Construction Inspection

Inspections can be performed at strategic points in the construction process, to identify issues as they develop and prior to their being covered by finished surfaces. There are 4 major stages of construction and one or more inspections can be performed at each stage, depending on your level of comfort with your builder.

  • Foundation - soils report review, excavation, footings/piers, walls, waterproofing/drain, backfill

  • Rough Framing - can be inspected in progress, or at the completion of the framing.

  • Rough Plumbing/Mechanical/Electrical - can be combined with a final framing inspection, prior to insulation and drywall. This is an ideal time to inspect as all systems are visible and corrections are easily made.

  • Final/Walk-Through - Highly recommended. Defects or deficiencies are more easily negotiated with the builder prior to closing than after.

Key Benefits to having Construction Inspections:

  • Learn the issues as they develop and get them corrected, rather than covered up!
  • Be in a position of strength, with documentation from a professional, in case the relationship with your builder deteriorates.
